A recent studyfound that female driving instructors pass more people on their driving tests than their male counterparts. dsa conducted the study and has been doing the research on this topic for over a year. Many theories are associated with whyfemale driving instructorshave a higher rate of passing drivers. Some think that women are more sympathetic to people and therefore pass them more easily. Some rude comments have been made that women are worse drivers than men so theyaccept lower performance levels. This study has stirred up alot of tension in between the sexes in the workplace and some think that the study should not even have been conducted.

A local coalition of female driving instructors has stated that the study is not fair to women because it has only been conducted for a year and it just happened to be that women passed more drivers this year. They posed the question,."Who is to say that menwouldnot pass more if the study w ere to be relaunched"? All in all, this study is very controversial and why it was started is unknown. It seems as if it was started based on making a biased point.I do not particularly care for any study that generalizes groups of people and compares them to another group. It is simply not a respectable statement to make. I think that who ever came up with this study should take some lessons on etiquette. Sexism has been an issue in the workplace that most would like to think is in the past. Bringing up comparisons as such only make sexism rear its ugly head in the workplace again. I know I wouldn't want to feel as if there were a divide between thesexes in the place that I work.

Honestly, when I firsttook my driver's license test, I was tested by a male driving instructor. I know that I messed up horribly, but he still passed me in spite of my many mistakes. Once I started driving as an adult I retook my test. The instructor was a female the second time around, andI found her to be very shrewed and serious about her job compared to the man who was lax and uncaring. I think it is all a matter of the individual. Just because the male driving instructor was not very serious about his job would not make me believe all males are that way. So why are they now trying to generalize with female driving instructors?
